The Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun (FUHSI), Nigeria, has received a generous donation of medical books valued at over $50,000 from The Nigeria Connect, an organisation based in the United States of America. This significant contribution was made possible through the facilitation of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Akeem Lasisi, with the strong support of the Alaiyeluwa of Oke-Ila, Oba (Dr.) Adedokun Abolarin, Aroyinkeye I.
The process began in March 2025 and involved a series of coordinated follow-ups led by the University Librarian, Mrs Bukky Asubiojo, FNLA. On 1st August 2025, the books were officially received by the University Library on behalf of FUHSI. The donated collection comprises over 1,953 volumes contain in 70 boxes, primarily in the health sciences, covering fields such as Nursing, Surgery, Nutrition, Orthopaedics, Anatomy, Physiotherapy, and Internal Medicine, among others. It also includes essential medical reference materials such as dictionaries, world books, encyclopaedias, atlases, and more.
Additionally, the donation features a variety of light reading materials including novels, storybooks, motivational texts, and picture books. These resources are expected to significantly enhance teaching, learning, research, and community engagement within the university. The management of FUHSI expresses its profound gratitude for this invaluable support and commitment to the growth of health sciences education in Nigeria.
